About the Project
The International Competitiveness Development (UR-GE) Project, which was supported within the scope of the Communiqué on Supporting International Competitiveness in 2011 and implemented for the first time by our Association, commenced its activities by bringing together 52 companies and creating a strong cluster in the EHİS sector (Industrial Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration).
The main objective of the project was to increase the export market share of the EHİS cluster and to strengthen international relations. In line with this objective, training and consultancy programs were designed to enhance companies’ capabilities in production, marketing, e-commerce, and strategic competencies, while procurement delegations and overseas marketing activities were organized.
Over a three-year period, ESSİAD carried out a total of 28 activities. Based on the experience gained through these efforts, ESSİAD was awarded the Bronze Label as one of the first cluster organizations in Türkiye to take a step toward cluster management excellence at the International Competitiveness and Cooperation Conference, organized on 4–5 June 2013 within the scope of the SME Cooperation and Clustering Project, implemented by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Türkiye and supported by the European Union.
The Second UR-GE Project, which started on 29 January 2015, brought together 45 companies and continued its activities by building on the experience gained. Within approximately 2.5 years, a total of 21 activities were carried out. Prior to the originally planned completion date of 31 December 2017, ESSİAD applied to the SME and Clustering Department of the Directorate General for Exports of the Ministry of Economy for a two-year extension. Following approval of the extension, the project continued and was completed in January 2020.
The UR-GE Project, which initially started with 45 companies, was completed with 32 companies by the end of the project period.

Activities Carried Out Within the Scope of the Project

A Project Coordinator was employed to enhance the institutional capacity of the cluster.

One-on-one meetings were held with companies, and needs analysis reports were completed.

HS codes (GTİP) were identified; import and export data were grouped based on various parameters; target market analyses and a target market matrix were prepared. Based on the needs analysis results, training and consultancy topics were determined, and the project roadmap was created.

In addition, Service Verification Consultancy services were obtained.
Within the scope of overseas marketing activities, trade delegations were organized to Iran and Russia.
To enhance the promotion of the EHİS cluster, a mobile application published in Turkish and English was developed, providing redirection to company profiles and/or websites. Through the application, users gained instant access to company information, product catalogs, EHİS cluster promotion content, ESSİAD e-bulletins, and Soğutma Dünyası Magazine, published by ESSİAD.
